sunday morning!

kor and i just got back to our room. we watched da vinci code with mike, nestor, arthur, and gelo. well, uhm... what can I say? it was quite interesting but there were some weirdness somewhere. To put it simply and quoting from kuya mike, the flaw was in the story itself. I never really thought much about the story but as for someone who has not read the book before watching the movie, I find the whole thing a bit odd... but again, it was interesting. the movie reminded me of an old movie called " the ninth gate" or some sort of like that. The ninth gate was of a an evilish sort of movie but the thrill it gave was much like that of dvc except that the ninth gate is longer and again, evilish.(no...not elvish =P...)
according to internet rating the dvc movie was 3/5. hmmm... maybe those curators expected so much from the book like how hp movies got me dismayed. it is the same usual case I guess for interesting novels, especially when directors fail to copy the story exactly.(or maybe the story can't be copied at all!)
before the movie Mike shared about this Umberto Eco, an author whose style was said to have been copied by Dan Brown. The difference is Mr Eco admits that his novels are fiction at first and then he manipulates facts so well that the reader is bent on believing his masterpieces. There might be a lot of things like that these days and it takes a lot of brains to make one. I've learned the existence of some from the philo module I took before, like how one can use facts to fit what one wants people to believe. I just said this becaise the dvc style is just quite familiar... oh Socrates...heehee...
in the end (after watching the movie and learning what are the so-called controversial claims are), what matters is still what the person believes in...
As a follower of Jesus, I know that He was sent to save us, and salvation is only thgough Him (this is according to the teachings I have received)....and guess what? part of my belief as well is that someday the truth will be confirmed to all men =) and by then, at least what we can do is wait. ^_^.
