PH1101E: Reason and PersuasionIs a highly disturbing and controversial module for me (and I am taking it! Hehehe). It speaks of relativism and of people who lived before Jesus. It discusses about their techniques of leading “blind” people to their devious traps in conversations. It talks about making sense, looking for reasons…
How far can man go? To me it seems like this module is but a discussion of how open-ended a man’s reasons could be, even though they may disprove a claim of another man. They cannot prove something that involves dialectical disputes to be absolutely true. But since this module loves to revolve around those seemingly hard to settle issues and their trying to count God out (that is if they are Christians) or not involving God (if they are atheist) or just using the man-made gods, I find that they are wasting their time babbling things they think do make sense. But they don’t…Really.
When you look at the Greek gods, they act so human. So stained, so not fit to be called gods… When you look at the humans who turned to gods according to other humans themselves, they’re but dead bodies lying wasted away on their tombs… exception is when you look at Jesus… You cannot find His remains anywhere since He is in fact alive. I believe He is alive and I am certain that it is the truth. I believe His teachings are perfect and I believe they are the truth as well… But then PH1101E goes butting in, reasoning that the things I claim are biased and will try to disprove how far-fetched I am from reality. They can and probably would also say that right and wrong are relative… so killing could possibly be right and lies are always excusable… See how rotten could things get? I guess they just fail to simply see what reality is, that is, it is easier to be evil than to be good in this fallen world. They’re just trying to defend the evils that we all are inclined to doing.
I pity Socrates for not finding out clarity while he was still alive. If Socrates had lived and known Jesus, I guess he would have been different. He would definitely be able to defend himself against Meletus’ prosecution and live several more decades afterwards since he would have found the One who could answer his questions and turn his bewilderment all back to him. He would be someone who would be more than at par with him. Someone who can actually stop Socrates or Plato from going around in circles and find himself satisfied with the answers given to him…Poor fellow, he who was actually wise enough to know that he knows nothing, Socrates…
Anyway, it’s just the fifth week of school so I guess I’ll know more about those Greek philosophers and more of the module’s objective after quite a number of weeks more… For now, I’ll just listen and watch them reason…
But I believe He is the absolute truth, and I guess only a few out of billions/trillions probably who existed… Whatever others may think about this claim, I strongly believe still that one day we will all know the truth about Him.

Hi Ted...
Yeah, I do agree that people are going to talk anyway... That's why I decided to listen first...
Filtering comments... I do not exactly understand what you are trying to tell me... However, I didn't say I'm not open to hear all their concerns and propositions. I wanted to know them, so I'd know what to say...
just a break from my daily stuff...
