Filipinos
In relation to my previous posts... Not only are the locals around and Ivy are stubborn... I guess I may count the Filipinos as well...
I observed that Filipinos are idealistic, and are even outspoken but lack definite action to achieve their ideals. They lack unity in terms of ideals as well. They are given enough liberty to do all that they want to, and are constantly seduced by the elusive power of people power. Filipinos LOVE to complain. They are also bent on pin-pointing the blame to their leaders, scrutinizing them to their very skin. They just can't stab themselves looking through the very blood that runs through them and testing how impure they are. They, like me, can be so stubborn that judgement without a good deal of knowledge of what's actually happening is but a normal description of what we could probably read on the headlines or maybe editorials...
I pity the leaders in the Philippines for they have to bear with all those sorts of painful scrutinies and all those sorts of people, including probably the likes of stubborn people (me?). I believe that they are humans too. Imperfect. They cannot please everybody. They are also constantly under the spell of temptations. Corruption? It was never new in the world and in the Philippines, people are just more sensitive about it nowadays, or say aware, utterly watchful and critical. I believe Gloria wants to escape all those terrible things that's been happening as well as flee from how her very being is blemished upon every negative feedback that reaches her office. If I were in her shoes, I might do every possible thing to escape such challenging yet horrendous situation, even the craziest solutions I would also consider.
I may probably say that the most unwanted position of office in the world is the President of the Philippines (
if you ask Plato or Socrates, they'd agree with me... but correction however, this only applies for people who (according to those philosophers again) are just and virtuous a.k.a. good individuals). I currently do not aspire to be one. It seems so much. I may be labeled as filthy thief even if I'd like to believe that I am not.
I do not have the right to judge her, P. Gloria. She is facing factors that I cannot imagine at the moment. We all have reasons for our actions, so all the more are the appointed leaders who take caution in every move... Also (a lil off the line), it is written in the bible that God chose all the leaders, or all those He put in power especially over His people. Gloria may be proven to have cheated, but why is it that God allowed such a time to pass and have her formally declared as the president? He could have just exposed her by then if He didn't will her to be the president right? God has reasons but we probably don't know it yet. And so we are mesmerized by the all the possibilities why the leader has become the leader. We, being too concerned of the bad ones just act. Due to this, we sometimes become unreliable as well, and maybe unreasonable in our judgement...
I feel sorry for Gloria. I think she has received too much. If errors are on her then let God deal with her, severely if you like, and let us not be the ones to condemn her or persecute her, but if suspicions were found to be true, we condemn/persecute the action. Let us be clean of hands and innocent of slander (including the possibilities of doing so), our Lord doesn't want that from His very children. If we do condemn Gloria, I guess we are no different from those who actually persecute Christians, narrow-minded (some), doesn't know/trust God, and definitely doesn't obey the commands of Jesus... If we can help her, then we should. If it can be proven that she is nothing but an unjust leader who just wants power and money, then I bet God would deal with her according to what she deserves. God gives better judgement than we humans, who have already fallen short especially in terms of judgement. If she is bad, let us try to become a good lot of people. If she is good, then we should definitely try to become better individuals... My opinion only... But really, it is written, if someone slaps you on your right cheek, offer your left cheek as well...
... but then again, it is one of the difficult teachings that we ought to learn...
But furthermore, if you can pray for your enemies, why not for your people's leaders? You may even consider them your enemies... But do pray for them...
